Poke Loa Opens Third Location in South Market District

The Domain Companies is excited to announce the opening of Poke Loa in the rapidly-growing South Market District. Following the success of its Magazine Street flagship and recently-opened Old Metairie location, Poke Loa brings its quick-serve, poke dishes to the Downtown area.

Poke Loa at The Park (939 Girod Street) continues to craft healthy, “build-your-own” poke bowl options for a new batch of diners. Consisting of a base of rice or mixed greens, chopped raw fish, and twenty tasty marinades and toppings (such as ponzu, edamame, and avocado), the poke bowls serve as the perfect introduction to Hawaiian cuisine for New Orleans’ food connoisseurs. While the city’s residents, workers, and visitors will be treated to classic poke offerings, the Downtown location will also include a full tiki-style bar and a mochi dessert bar. Mochi, an ice cream confection made from pounded sticky rice, will round-out Poke Loa’s diverse food menu.

With the addition of the tiki and mochi bars, Poke Loa is expanding its offerings while remaining focused on its mission to bring healthy, tasteful food options to the New Orleans community. “Seafood is such a classic protein for New Orleans residents,” said Cecile Hardy Tanguis, co-founder of Poke Loa. “With our newest location, we’re excited to continue sharing this delicious, Hawaiian cuisine with the community.”

The clean, minimal interior of the space at 939 Girod follows the pared-down aesthetic of previous locations, with a multitude of indoor seating options available. Sidewalk seating complements current outdoor seating options throughout the South Market District.

Poke Loa joins a well-rounded selection of neighborhood food and retail experiences in the South Market District, including established favorites like Willa Jean, Company Burger, and Maypop. The Park at South Market is already home to Arhaus Furniture and CVS/pharmacy.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Poke Loa to The Park at South Market,” said Matt Schwartz, principal at The Domain Companies, South Market’s developers. “As the range of food options available in the South Market District continues to expand, we’re excited for the Downtown community to have quick access to delicious poke dishes.”
