It’s the end of June and summer is in full swing, which means it’s almost time to celebrate Independence Day!
In New Orleans, there’s no shortage of events, food, and fireworks to celebrate the Fourth. Check out our list below!
Essence Festival – Mariah Carey, Kendrick Lamar, and Ciara headline this year’s festival from Essence Magazine. Of course, music is only one component of the festival that includes a range of African American artists, writers, craftsmen, and more. There’s also the not-to-be-missed Essence Empowerment Experience.
Food – South Market District has your craving for an American classic covered. Stop by The Company Burger before heading out to the fireworks for two patties, pickles, onions, and American cheese on a delicious bun. You can wash it down with a classic American cocktail or brew from their All-American bar!
Fireworks – Fourth of July isn’t complete until the big finale! Head down to the river at 9:00 pm (we suggest Woldenberg Park) to catch the “dueling barges” fireworks show. You don’t want to miss one of the “Top Five Must-See Fireworks Displays in the U.S.” according to the American Pyrotechnics Association.
Happy birthday U.S.A!
