Just a few blocks from the South Market District sits a unique red building home to one of the most unique art collections in the country: The Ogden Museum of Southern Art.
Since the building opened in 2003, the Ogden has been the location for the premier collection of artists from the Southern states. Boasting pieces and exhibitions from Alexander Drysdale, William Henry Buck, Jacques Amans, and Raymond Smith, the Ogden’s collection includes photographs, paintings, and sculptures.
For a unique night out that combines art, music, and cocktails check out the Ogden After Hours Series. Every Thursday from 6-8 PM, the museum presents live musical performances by Southern musicians and interviews with Southern music historians. The experience isn’t complete until you spend some time on the rooftop patio with the Crescent City Connection in the background and a glass of wine or cocktail in-hand.
