Reflections on A New Year at South Market

The Paramount at South Market

It’s been a huge year for the South Market District, with new residents, restaurants, shops, and more coming to Downtown New Orleans in 2015. Here we look at the year’s successes, and look ahead to 2016!

A Look Back

The Paramount, South Market’s first residential community, began 2015 by becoming the first luxury apartment community to achieve LEED Silver Certification in Downtown New Orleans. A number of restaurants joined residents in calling South Market home in 2015, including the acclaimed Willa Jean Bakery along with Blaze Pizza, local favorite Company Burger, and Magasin Kitchen. Additionally, boutiques Hattie Sparks and Stonefree joined Arhaus Furniture, CVS, and fitness studio Barre3 in the District.

A Look Ahead

2015 was just the beginning for South Market, with so much more to look forward to in the new year. Part & Parcel restaurant will open in The Paramount in 2016, and The Beacon will begin pre-leasing in February, as it gets ready to welcome new residents and Higher Power NOLA fitness studio in the spring. Just blocks from the South Market District, the new Ace Hotel, helmed by South Market’s developer The Domain Companies, will welcome guests and offerings from Stumptown Coffee, Andy Ticer and Michael Hudman’s new restaurant, and Friend men’s boutique. Finally, construction will begin on The Standard, New Orleans’ first Downtown condominium development from acclaimed architect Morris Adjmi.

As we ring in the new year, we’re excited to keep building on 2015’s success! Thank you to all of our residents, visitors, and partners who are making it happen.
