The Mercedes-Benz Superdome is known as the home of the Saints, but heading into New Year’s the Dome becomes a focal point for college football’s faithful.

The weekend before Christmas, the Dome hosted one of the first bowl games of the year, the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. This year, Louisiana Tech and Arkansas State faced off in an entertaining and high scoring battle. The home state Bulldogs took home the trophy 47-28.

On January 1st, the new year kicks off with the Allstate Sugar Bowl. This “New Year’s Six Bowl” features two of the top teams in the nation as Oklahoma State, of the Big 12 Conference, and Ole Miss, from the SEC, face-off in what’s sure to be one of the best games of the year.

The festivities for bowl season aren’t limited to the game. Throughout the holiday season, New Orleans hosts free concerts, fan-fests, and parades for the big games. In South Market, we’ve seen a lot of school and state pride on the streets and in the shops. From the orange and black of Oklahoma State to the blue and red of the Bulldogs from Louisiana Tech, we’re happy to be at the center of college football’s most exciting time of year!
