Whether it’s how you get through the morning rush or how you enjoy sitting down with a book, coffee is a necessity for many. New Orleans’ coffee tradition is as rich as red beans and rice and Jazz Fest. The tradition is why Pastry Chef Kelly Fields took the time to carefully craft the coffee program at Willa Jean in the South Market District with Chicago-based Intelligentsia Coffee.
Intelligentsia Coffee is known for developing original and directly-sourced blends while providing growers with prices above international fair trade standards. While multiple coffee bars in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York offer Intelligentsia blends, Willa Jean is the only place in New Orleans to be a part of its unique program. The bakery is also the only place in the country to get a cup of Intelligentsia’s “Willa Jean” coffee blend.
For those that like a little cream or milk in their morning cup, Willa Jean offers locally sourced milk from Mauthe’s Progress Milk Barn. Of course, if you’re looking for a happy hour pick-me-up, there’s always the coffee-infused craft cocktails.
Willa Jean is open Sunday through Thursday: 7 AM – 9 PM; and Friday through Saturday: 7 AM to 10 PM. Check out their full menu and reservation information.
