The Scottish Rite Temple at 619 Carondelet Street has sat empty since the New Orleans Freemasons moved this summer, but come November 2016 it will be home to Nolaluna, a European style circus theatre and dining experience from the partners of San Fransisco’s Teatro ZinZanni.
The theatre will feature nightly shows of acrobatics, trapeze, music, and comedy accompanied by a four-course dinner. Additionally, the building will be home to a 125-seat Italian restaurant and bar with an in-house trio of musicians.
“This will become a local venue that people cherish and love and get to do exciting nights out like nothing they could get anywhere,” said Stanley Morris, Nolaluna co-producer and managing partner.
Nolaluna’s announcement comes at an exciting time for Downtown New Orleans. The Ace Hotel, located across the street from Nolaluna’s location, is slated to open early next year, as is the South Market District’s second residential property, The Beacon, just a few blocks away.
