On Friday, May 16th, the Downtown Development District of New Orleans (DDD) held the 2014 Downtown NOLA Awards, an annual luncheon celebrating the innovators and influencers shaping downtown. Many inspiring individuals, organizations, and projects were nominated in fifteen categories, from Best Public Works Project (Iberville Street Roadway Reconstruction) to Downtown Brand Ambassador of the Year (Gary Solomon, Jr.).
Everyone involved in South Market District would like to congratulate the winners and nominees, all of whom represent the best of New Orleans development. Many of our neighbors were among Friday’s winners, including Downtown Clean Team Partner’s Hyatt Regency New Orleans, Best Development Project’s Saenger Theatre, and Best Kept Secret’s International High School of New Orleans.
Most exciting for us was the winner of the Downtown Inspiration Award, given to a “Downtown property owner, business, resident or worker who is a leader, collaborator and advocate for Downtown development.” The Domain Companies, South Market District’s developer, was the proud recipient of the award for their work on the District. Of the award (pictured above), Domain’s co-founder Matt Schwartz said:
Domain has worked closely with the DDD and other downtown stakeholders to ensure that South Market District meets the needs of Downtown’s rapidly evolving community. From unique residential and commercial amenities to great outdoor and green spaces, the resulting development will be an asset the community will enjoy for years to come. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the DDD on future phases of South Market and on the other developments we are advancing throughout Downtown New Orleans.
The DDD created the Downtown NOLA Awards as an annual program to recognize exceptional accomplishments of downtown New Orleans property owners, businesses, residents, workers, and organizations. More information and a complete list of winners can be found here.
Congratulations, Downtown NOLA Award winners!
